Interview
  What got you into officiating?
I used to be an announcer and then decided that as I needed to have a better understanding of the rules of Barefooting I had better become a judge!
Why do you continue to officiate?
I love the interaction between skier and official, plus it's the best seat in the house!
Who has inspired you in this sport?
There are many, and this is not an easy one to answer so here goes...

In no particular order...

Brett Wing, Andre De Villiers Snr. Mike Seipel, Chris Harris, Debbie Pugh, Amy Lawler, Romain Gilot, Brett Sands, Evert Aartsen, Ron Scarpa, Terry Benford, The great Goggin & Fountain, John Cornish, Gill Hill, Bart Sileghem, Robert Teurezbacher, John Pennay, Peter Wellham, Charles Ramsey, Stew McDonald, Harry Robb, Brian Carroll, Foot, Lane Bowers and John Kretchman oh and last but not least, the great William P. Farrell.
What skiers have you enjoyed watching and why?
Heinrich Sam - for being so fearless and soooooo fast. Dave Small for being so good and so versatile. Lane Bowers, Massimo Mastelli and Patrick Wehner for being three of the cleanest skiers in the World. Keith St. Onge for being so consistent.
Do you have a nickname and how did you get it?
Yes I do. Too convoluted to explain but many in the Barefoot world know me as Gam or The Gamster or (for some) the Hacker! I inherited that one from Al Keiffer!
What other activities do you participate in?
I run, I bike (cycle), I play squash, cricket and table-tennis. I'll put on a ski and follow the boat through the slalom course occasionally too! I run an RC scale model off-shore powerboat.

I yearn to be a drag racer again which is what I did before I got in to Barefoot Water Skiing and when I win the lottery, I'm gonna race a Funny Car for sure!

I sing the odd tune with a Jazz/Swing/R&B Band. I also play piano and keyboards - BUT VERY BADLY!
  What is your motto?
Just do it right and never ever believe that you can't.
